Almonds are high in heart healthy fats (monounsaturated fatty acids). They help increase your good cholesterol. They contribute to decreased glucose and insulin levels and thus also help in weight loss. They are a healthy source of antioxidants and Vitamin A, calcium, zinc, magnesium and Vitamin E and are an important part of your everyday food!
According to the U.S Food and Drug Association, 1 oz. is a standard serving of almonds. That amounts to a handful of almonds every day. Since almonds are high in fat, a word of caution is not to exceed the recommended one serving amount! And if you are including other kinds of nuts in your daily food intake make sure to count those in the recommended serving as well.
