Help Your Skin

There are specific foods that will leave your skin fresh, vibrant and baby soft whether you eat them or wear them on your face in the form of face-masks. As the saying goes, you are what you eat and therefore the worst thing we can do is to starve our skin of the nutrients and minerals that it needs to vitalize itself. If your diet is missing key ingredients that can help this skin renewal process, there’s a risk that even more serious skin problems can occur later on. So make sure you are getting what you need and you can retain a youthful glow while avoiding those pesky skin conditions later on.

One of the best ways to improve your complexion is by eating a well balanced diet. But which food should you specifically target for this endeavor? Here are some great foods that can double as face-masks and condition your skin inside and out!

  1. Low-fat dairy products- Yogurt and milk are great sources of vitamin A for your skin. If used in a face-mask they are wonderful as cleansers too!

  2. Egg whites- Not only are they good sources of protein, but whisking and lightly coating it on your face can tighten your skin, help those wrinkles disappear and bring an instant glow to your face!

  3. Chocolate- Eating a moderate amount of chocolate that contains at least 70 percent cocoa can go a long way. Dark chocolate, which is filled with antioxidants and flavonols, can reduce puffiness and wrinkles. Try a cocoa face-mask with a little milk while you are at it!

  4. Turmeric- This spice is so versatile in its healing properties if added to any meal. Turmeric contains antibacterial properties, prevents cancer, is a natural liver detoxifier, burns fat, and aids inflammatory skin conditions.  A face-mask with this ingredient is great for acne, rosacea and dark circles.

Beans- Kidney beans are a great source of zinc and studies have shown that there is a correlation between low zinc levels and blemishes. Soy beans have been proven to reduce hyper pigmentation and even the skin tone.

  1. Oatmeal- Oats are less processed so They retains a lot of their natural vitamins. When eaten, it takes a lot longer to break down so it controls blood sugar levels (which increase androgen levels in your body and contribute to wrinkles). You can easily make an oatmeal face mask and combine it with other ingredients like avocado.

  2. Honey- It is a great natural sweetener and contains antioxidants and antibacterial properties. It’s also an AMAZING addition to any face mask and will soften and lighten your skin.

Now those were just a few examples of how a lot of common healthy foods can be eaten or worn depending on your mood! Do your own research and you’ll be surprised at how many of these exist out there.
